Murtolan HamppuFarmi is located in southwest Finland, in the municipality of Marttila, on the Murtola organic farm. Hamppu is Finnish for hemp. Our main crop is hemp, both organic and conventional, and peas, oats, malting barley and clover are grown as part of the crop rotation. Murtolan HamppuFarmi is known for its high-quality hemp products and responsible organic production. Our farming family is Ville, Virve and their sons Elias and Santeri.
Our interest in growing hemp began in 2013, when the Hyötyhamppu (Useful Hemp) project at Turku University of Applied Sciences asked us to try bee pollination in a hemp field. We never got any hemp honey, but our interest in growing oil hemp stayed strong. In 2014 we completed our production building, where we process and pack hemp seed products.
Today we are Finland’s leading hemp product brand. Our wide range of hemp products, such as hemp seeds and hemp oil, our extensive sales network and our strong sales have made Murtolan HamppuFarmi products well known among consumers.
We are constantly developing our operations to improve efficiency and quality, with the aim of reducing waste and offering high-quality hemp products. Murtolan HamppuFarmi is also a co-owner of FoodFarm Oy, which focuses on food wholesale and serves processors and industrial customers in Finland and abroad.
